Songs That Should Go in Movie Scenes: Part II

There's something about watching an action movie that gets your blood going, and I'm convinced that 90% of the adrenaline you experience while watching Die Hard, or Wanted, or whatever, is because of the music used. So here are songs that I think would be perfect for a really good action/chase scene. I made two lists, so off we go:

Chase Scenes:

Car:

"Smack My Bitch Up" by Prodigy
"99 Problems" by Jay-Z
"Play Your Part (Part I)" Girl Talk Mash-up
"Ride With Me" by The Vines
"Troublemaker" by Weezer

One of my favorite movies is Gone in 60 Seconds, partly because I think it's from a time when action movies were actually good, but that's for another blog entry. Anyway, I apologize if a lot of the songs seem like they could fit into that movie, but it just has a ton of really fucking good chase sequences.

By Foot
"Bamboo Banga" by M.I.A.
"Wipe Out" by The Surfaris
"Blood Sugar" by Pendulum
"Tire Me" by Rage Against the Machine
"Everything's Just Wonderful" by Lily Allen

I am a HUGE fan of chase scenes by foot that have actually no music (Friday-the-13th-esque), but, when it is absolutely necessary, I think I would choose one of these songs. I think chase scenes by foot are better without music because there is only so much chasing you can do by foot, and silence makes whatever footage you have last longer. The more music included, the longer the sequence has to be, in my opinion. Anyway, tell me what you think.

UPDATE: Now you can listen!

  1. Music gives those scenes so much more life! I included Eddie Murphy on the Cigarette truck on my top ten list just because The Heat Is On and The Neutron dance were such great songs to couple the hilarious scene as it were. Music can add so many dynamic elements that can give those moments LIFE. Awesome choices with Prodigy and Rage.
